Over the last few years, Europe has become the major destination of large amounts of immigrants originated by the search for a better way of living from people whose countries' welfare situation offers less opportunity. According to sociological studies, the most frequent reason for immigration is the search for a job that allows maintenance and support of their families in their home countries. However, when they get to Europe, work opportunities are mainly temporary unqualified jobs with low revenues. This jobs scarcity hampers their integration. Nevertheless most of these worker's cultural and professional qualifications are higher than the jobs they are offered . Confronting this reality, self-employment becomes a promising alternative for well-prepared immigrants , allowing them at the same time to provide employment to other people who also suffer a lack of job security due to prejudices and racial and cultural discrimination. In addition, the creation of new businesses would help improving the social perceptions of immigrants considering them as competent entrepreneurial people, generating wealth. It would also offer them a chance to return to their home countries with more experience and with major resources for a new start. The current existing training proposals for the creation of businesses are not adjusted for immigrants, as they do not take into consideration cultural differences or their specific needs. Therefore the importance of an adapted training methodology including paces, time schedule, languages, spaces, etc, which takes into account cultural differences, some legal and administrative considerations, consuming habits, etc. For all these reasons, THE MAIN OBJECTIVE OF THIS PROPOSAL IS TO DESIGN, ASSESS AND SPREAD AN INNOVATIVE TRAINING METHODOLOGY FOR THE CREATION AND MANAGEMENT OF NEW BUSINESSES ADAPTED FOR QUALIFIED IMMIGRANTS. Our aim is to offer useful and practical training to be developed through the following products/services:
This methodology will be made available to training centres, institutions, associations and other interested bodies enabling them to give business creation training adapted to immigrants. For this reason, the proposal also looks at the design and assessment of “training the trainer methodology” . Additionally, it takes into consideration the implementation of specific trainers forum/platform where achievements, progress a nd experiences can be exchanged. |
